Once you step inside the Lincoln's cabin, you won't want to leave. You're greeted by the comfort of soft leather and the comfortability of the 30-way adjustable massaging front seats. Select a gear by pressing one of the four PRND buttons whilst being welcomed by a more informative heads-up display that is wider, brighter and sits up higher on the windshield for maximum visibility than the HUD in the Cadillac XT6. Enjoy the panoramic glass sunroof from heated and ventilated second-row seats while taking in the stunning audio system. The Aviator's audio setup was developed by Revel and consists of 28 speakers positioned throughout the cabin for a grand surround sound experience.

The Lincoln Aviator offers a rear-drive-based platform, which provides slightly better weight balance and a true advantage in towing. As tested, the Lincoln is equipped with a tow package that allows it to pull up to 6,700 pounds, while the XT6 is limited in towing capacity with a max of 4,000 pounds. Being almost identical in size, the XT6 has a closer wheelbase than the Aviator, making it drive significantly different than the Lincoln. When on the open road, the Aviator provides a much quieter cabin, without tire and wind-noise, as well as better suspension absorption and a more comfortable ride.

aviator vs. XT6 comparison performance

As tested, both the Aviator and XT6 are powered by aluminum V6 engines. The Lincoln's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 cranks out 400 hp and 415-lb ft of torque, while the Cadillac's 3.6-liter V6 provides 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. The Aviator's engine is quiet, and doesn't have to work as hard to generate power and thrust as the XT6 engine. Both, when running on regular gas in AWD, are pulling 17/24 mpg city/highway.

It should be obvious by now why the Lincoln Aviator is a stronger three-row luxury SUV than the Cadillac XT6. Its powertrain is more capable, more refined, and just as efficient. Its interior is better designed and better executed, with materials of a higher standard of quality.
